If you entirely disregard a traffic strategy because you believe or know it will not work, that is one thing. 

However, attempting to create traffic from a decade-old, non-targeted source, such as a “start page” exchange, is ineffective. If you hear about this in an outdated traffic report, you may disregard it.

I’m referring to ignoring tried-and-true approaches for attracting targeted traffic to your website. Here are a few examples:

  • You don’t want to start a mailing list or publish a blog because you don’t want to construct and commit to a publication schedule.
  • You do not desire joint venture partners or affiliates, as you prefer to work alone.
  • You disregard social media even if your target demographic is youthful and known to spend the day on Facebook.

Why would anyone continue to waste money and time on ineffective advertising? Because these marketers are unaware that their advertising is ineffective.
